Big Flats man arrested following domestic incident

BIG FLATS — A local man has been arrested following a domestic incident in the Chemung County area, authorities said Wednesday.

Trevor D. Dieffenbach, 42, of Big Flats, was charged on Tuesday with assault in the 2nd degree, a Class D felony, and criminal mischief in the 4th degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Big Flats Town Court, where an order of protection was issued.

Dieffenbach was remanded to the Chemung County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash or a $200,000 property bond.

In a separate incident, Timothy J. Lewis, Jr., 35, of Elmira, was arrested on Tuesday for petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.

The charge followed a complaint at Tops Market in the Town of Southport.

Lewis was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Southport Town Court at a later date.
