DUXBURY — A routine traffic stop for an unregistered vehicle led to multiple injuries to police officers and several charges against a Pembroke man early Wednesday morning.

Officer Sheehan was investigating suspicious activity near the Duxbury Legion at approximately 1 a.m. when she stopped an unregistered vehicle on West Street.

The driver, identified as Gerardo Cradock, 47, of Pembroke, displayed signs of alcohol impairment and refused to provide his license or registration, according to police.

After backup officers arrived, Cradock allegedly refused to exit his vehicle to perform sobriety tests and became increasingly agitated despite officers’ attempts to de-escalate the situation.

When officers informed Cradock he was under arrest for operating under the influence, he gripped the center console to brace himself inside the vehicle and became combative as officers attempted to remove him, police said.

Two officers were injured during the struggle, with one requiring transport to a hospital by Duxbury Fire Paramedics.

The injured officer was treated and released the same day.

Cradock faces charges of operating under the influence of liquor, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
