HOMER — New York State Police at Homer, with the assistance of the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit, arrested Morgan R. Hopkins, 26, of Cortland on Feb. 27.
Hopkins faces charges of promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years old, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child less than 16 years old, a class E felony.
Authorities accuse Hopkins of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
His arrest followed an investigation initiated by a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
A search warrant was executed at Hopkins’ residence in Cortland as part of the investigation.
After his arrest, Hopkins was processed at SP Homer.
He was then transported to the Cortland County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
