CHATHAM — Chatham police have arrested a 46-year-old resident after a violent assault, following a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
On Monday at approximately 7:30 p.m., Chatham police were notified by the Harwich Police Department after a female victim arrived at the Harwich Police/Fire station with injuries purportedly from a domestic assault.
The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for medical evaluation.
The suspect was identified as Gary Shawn McKenzie of Chatham.
A manhunt ensued, involving the Harwich Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department, and Chatham Fire Department.
Drones, K9 units, and cell phone data were utilized in the search.
Authorities located and arrested McKenzie at approximately 5:30 a.m. in South Chatham.
McKenzie faces charges including kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, witness intimidation, and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned today in Orleans District Court.
