Waterbury man faces multiple charges after police pursuit

WATERBURY — Troopers from the Berlin Barracks attempted to stop a vehicle on Guptil Road in Waterbury at 11 p.m. on March 2 for a motor vehicle violation.

The driver, later identified as 42-year-old William (Dusty) Ranew of Waterbury, did not stop and continued driving at a slow speed.

The vehicle eventually pulled into a residence on Howard Ave and came to a stop.

Troopers noted signs of impairment and arrested Ranew on suspicion of DUI.

Ranew was also found to be driving with a criminally suspended license.

He was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

Ranew was subsequently ordered to be released and is scheduled to appear in court on March 3 at 12:30 p.m.
