POUGHKEEPSIE — The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has taken a suspected drug dealer into custody in Poughkeepsie.
During a targeted investigation, agents purchased narcotics from Orlando Peterson III, 55, leading to an operation on Feb. 27.
The task force, supported by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit (SWAT), executed a search warrant at Peterson’s residence on Garden Street.
The search resulted in the seizure of cocaine and methamphetamine that were packaged for sale.
Peterson was arrested without incident and is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, classified as a class B felony.
He was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded with no bail.
The Drug Task Force’s investigation remains active, and additional charges against Peterson are expected.
The City of Poughkeepsie Police assisted in executing the search warrant.
Authorities remind the public that all charges are accusations, and Peterson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
