Cortland County man arrested after domestic incident, police say

FREETOWN — Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check on Maricle Road on Feb. 27, at approximately 7:34 p.m.

The officers determined that the defendant, Christopher J. Fox, 23, had engaged in a physical domestic incident with a victim earlier in the day.

Mr. Fox was not present when officers arrived, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

He was arrested the following day, Feb. 28, at 12:47 p.m., and was processed and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process that same evening at 8 p.m.

Mr. Fox faces multiple charges, including aggravated family offense (felony), criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, assault in the third degree, menacing in the third degree, and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, all misdemeanors.

Following his arraignment, Mr. Fox was remanded to the Cortland County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Freetown Court on March 19, at 5 p.m.
