Disturbance at Freetown gas station draws police response

FREETOWN — A large-scale disturbance at Neon Marketplace Gas Station drew a police response on March 1 at around 10:07 p.m.

The Freetown Police Department responded to reports of over 300 vehicles involved in reckless driving and obstructing access to the gas station on Innovation Way.

Upon arrival, Freetown officers requested assistance from the Fall River Police Department, Lakeville Police Department, Berkley Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police.

Initial investigations revealed that several physical altercations occurred before officers arrived, and witnesses reported that a firearm was displayed during the incident.

The gathering was part of a privately organized vehicle event, which had hired private security.

Police were able to disperse the crowd and restore order by approximately 11:45 p.m.

The Freetown Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
