WARWICK — On Friday, Feb. 28 at 8:06 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to a structure fire at 649 Wheeler Road.
The Florida Fire Department, Pine Island Fire Department, and Town of Warwick Police Department responded to the scene, arriving to find heavy fire at the rear of the three-story house.
Fire crews were informed that the homeowner was unaccounted for as they faced rapidly spreading flames from the ground floor through the roof.
Additional assistance was requested by Fire Chief Ronald Heter from several nearby fire departments, including Warwick, Goshen, Chester, Greenwood Lake, Washingtonville, Silver Lake, and Slate Hill.
Upon controlling the main blaze, crews discovered the body of the home’s only occupant, Louis Miloszewski, Jr., 69, of Florida.
The incident prompted responses from various agencies, including the Orange County Fire Coordinators Unit, Fire Investigative Unit, Warwick EMS, Orange County Arson Task Force, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, although foul play is not suspected.
No injuries to firefighters were reported.
