WESTBROOK — Westbrook police arrested a Windham man Tuesday after receiving reports of erratic driving on Stroudwater Street.
At approximately 12:52 p.m., officers located the vehicle near the cemetery on Stroudwater Street and observed the driver operating dangerously.
Attempts to pull the vehicle over were ignored, and the suspect continued driving at a high rate of speed, reportedly reaching at least 65 mph past the high school.
The suspect stopped at a red light due to traffic at the intersection with William Clarke Drive, allowing officers to approach the vehicle.
After the driver refused to exit the vehicle, officers removed him to prevent further danger to the public.
Inside the suspect’s vehicle, police found it littered with beer cans.
The driver was identified as Brandon Patten, 34, who had a suspended license from a previous OUI conviction.
Patten was charged with OUI, Driving to Endanger, Operating after Suspension, and Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention.
