Authorities arrest New Hampshire man for DUI after driving wrong way on interstate

ROCKINGHAM — Vermont State Police arrested a New Hampshire man late Thursday on charges of driving under the influence and grossly negligent operation after he was reported driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 North.

Lucas A. Hebert, 30, of Acworth, New Hampshire, was apprehended after several 911 calls alerted authorities around 10:17 p.m. regarding a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near mile marker 34.

The Bellows Falls Police Department and Windham County Sheriff’s Office were able to intercept and stop the vehicle at mile marker 29.2 northbound in the Town of Westminster.

Vermont State Police troopers arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.

An investigation revealed Hebert was under the influence of alcohol.

Hebert was arrested and taken to the Westminster Barracks for processing.

He was later released with a criminal citation and is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Unit, Criminal Division, on March 11 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges.
