Syracuse police chase ends in crash, 3 arrested on felony charges

SYRACUSE — New York State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2016 Honda on East Milford Drive in Syracuse at approximately 5:50 p.m. Feb. 26 for multiple vehicle and traffic violations, including switched license plates.

As troopers approached the driver’s window, the vehicle fled the scene, turning onto Northcliffe Road.

While attempting to catch up, troopers discovered the Honda had collided with a 2015 Chevrolet at the intersection of Northcliffe Road and South Midler Avenue.

Troopers responded to the crash and detained the driver, Najhaliek S. Booker, and a backseat passenger, Bryant L. Brown.

A front-seat passenger, Jade A. Allen, was trapped inside the vehicle and required assistance.

Emergency medical personnel evaluated the occupants of the Honda.

Brown was uninjured, while Booker reported a possible broken leg and Allen complained of chest pain.

Both were transported to Upstate Hospital by AMR for treatment.

A records check revealed the Honda had been reported stolen in Syracuse.

The occupants of the Chevrolet, identified as driver Bimenyimana Onesime and front-seat passenger Adeline Nshimirimana, were taken to Upstate Hospital with possible neck injuries.

Following an investigation, troopers charged Brown, 33, of Syracuse, with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a Class D felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was transported to SP North Syracuse and turned over to the Onondaga County Justice Center pending arraignment at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 in Syracuse.

Booker, 32, of Syracuse, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as reckless endangerment, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and fourth-degree criminal mischief, all Class A misdemeanors.

He remains in custody at Upstate Hospital pending medical clearance and arraignment.

Allen, 22, of Syracuse, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

She remains in custody at Upstate Hospital pending medical clearance and arraignment.

The investigation remains ongoing.
