CASCO — A Casco man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stabbing his landlord outside their Evans Drive home during a physical altercation.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded at 8:35 a.m. to 9 Evans Drive in Casco for a reported disturbance.
Initial information indicated two men had been involved in a fight, resulting in one person being stabbed.
Deputies arrived and determined a 42-year-old male landlord and his tenant, a 40-year-old male, had gotten into a physical altercation outside the residence.
Authorities said the incident escalated when the tenant retrieved an edged weapon from his waistband and stabbed the landlord in the upper thigh, causing significant injury and serious bleeding.
Deputies immediately secured the scene and took the tenant, identified as 40-year-old Abdul Hamed Feroze, into custody.
Law enforcement personnel rendered medical aid to the stabbing victim by applying a tourniquet to control bleeding.
The landlord was transported by Casco EMS to Bridgton Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Cumberland County detectives arrested Feroze on a charge of elevated aggravated assault, a Class A offense.
Feroze was transported to Cumberland County Jail, where bail has not yet been set.
