LEDYARD — Deputies from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Port Byron man early Wednesday on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a domestic incident.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said Matthew Palmer, 41, was arrested on charges including aggravated criminal contempt, a D felony; first-degree criminal contempt, an E felony; criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, an A misdemeanor; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, also an A misdemeanor.
Deputies responded at 3:16 a.m. Wednesday to an unknown trouble call near Dill Road and Redmond Road in Ledyard.
Upon arrival, they found a victim who had been strangled and beaten.
The victim was transported by Southern Cayuga Ambulance to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment.
Authorities located Palmer in the victim’s vehicle and transported him to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building.
Palmer was arraigned in CAP Court and remains in custody at the Cayuga County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or a $40,000 bond.
