BARTON — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nicholas R. Whitmarsh, 31, of Owego on Feb. 21 on an active fugitive from justice warrant out of Pennsylvania.
Deputies responded to a location in the town of Barton after receiving an anonymous tip about Whitmarsh’s whereabouts.
Authorities were informed that Whitmarsh was walking away from the backside of the property.
When he was observed, he fled on foot.
Deputies took Whitmarsh into custody on Interstate 86 in the town of Barton.
In addition to the fugitive from justice warrant, Whitmarsh was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.
He was arraigned in CAP court on Feb. 21 and remanded to the Tioga County Jail.
The New York State Police and the Waverly Police Department assisted in the arrest.
