WORCESTER — New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Christopher Rayford, 60, of Worcester following a physical domestic dispute involving a firearm on Feb. 25.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Troopers were dispatched by the Otsego 911 Center to a residence on County Road 39 in Worcester.
An investigation determined that after physically assaulting a victim, Rayford destroyed property within the home and fired several rounds into the ceiling.
Rayford is also accused of taking the victim’s cellphone and preventing the victim from calling for help.
Troopers took Rayford into custody.
Worcester EMS checked the victim for injuries at the scene, but the victim declined transportation to a hospital.
Rayford has been charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, strangulation in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, all class D felonies.
He is also charged with assault in the third degree, menacing in the second degree, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree for disabling equipment to prevent an emergency call, all misdemeanors.
Rayford was processed and later transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
