NORTH NORWICH — Two men from Albany and Hamilton were arrested on drug charges in the town of North Norwich, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office said.
Joseph Schneider, 30, of Albany, and Samuel Smith, 35, of Hamilton, were taken into custody Feb. 19 during an investigation at a storage facility, deputies said.
Authorities said deputies were conducting property checks at storage units in response to recent burglary and larceny complaints when they observed a suspicious vehicle.
Deputies searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, packaging material and a scale, officials said.
Schneider and Smith were arrested without incident and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Both were arraigned in CAP Court and released on their own recognizance, deputies said.
They are scheduled to appear in North Norwich Town Court at a later date.
