Somerville police investigate shots fired, assaults and break-ins

SOMERVILLE — Police are investigating multiple incidents, including reports of shots fired, assaults, and residential break-ins across the city.

Officers responded at approximately 12:05 a.m. Tuesday to the area of Broadway and Alewife Brook Parkway for a report of gunfire.

At the scene, police recovered several shell casings.

The investigation remains ongoing.

On Sunday at about 2:01 a.m., officers were called to Nashua Street for a reported assault.

The victim told police he was punched in the face by a bouncer at a Broadway business, sustaining injuries to his eye and nose.

Police also investigated two separate residential break-ins.

The first occurred on Feb. 21 at about 1:25 a.m. at a residence on Paulina Street.

Residents told officers they returned home from a hockey game to find the apartment in disarray, though nothing was reported missing.

The second incident happened on Sunday at approximately 7:48 p.m. at a home on Walnut Street.

The victim told police he heard his dog barking and then saw a man inside his apartment.

The suspect fled through a window after being spotted.

A small container containing loose change and jewelry was reported stolen.

Other recent crimes reported in Somerville include three bicycle thefts, two car break-ins, two vehicle vandalisms, one package theft, and one stolen vehicle.
