PETERBOROUGH — Police arrested a 36-year-old man on charges of domestic violence stalking and criminal mischief after a firearm was discharged at a victim’s vehicle during an ongoing investigation.
Peterborough police said officers had been conducting undercover surveillance on the victim’s vehicle and residence amid reports of repeated property damage, including gunfire, tire spikes, and spray paint vandalism dating back to early February.
Around 9 p.m. Saturday, officers observed a person of interest driving by the victim’s residence and parked vehicle multiple times.
A Peterborough officer then witnessed the suspect drive slowly past the victim’s vehicle and fire a gun, hitting and damaging it.
Four officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle near the post office on Grove Street and arrested the driver without incident.
The suspect, identified as Travis J. Brown of Peterborough, was charged with two counts of domestic violence stalking and one count of criminal mischief.
Brown was held on preventative detention and transported to Valley Street Jail in Manchester.
He was arraigned Monday at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey and remains in custody.
