FREETOWN — A Freetown man has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon following an investigation by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel S. Kelley, 65, was arrested at 9:46 a.m. Feb. 25 after officers determined he was in possession of an illegally owned firearm, which he was prohibited from possessing, officials said.
The investigation began Feb. 16 after authorities received information about the defendant, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Kelley was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at 5 p.m. March 19 in Town of Freetown Court.
