WILLIMANTIC — Police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with an armed robbery at a gas station in December.
The Willimantic Police Department took Jerry Perez-Cartagena, 50, into custody on charges related to the Dec. 26 robbery at the Valero Gas Station on West Main Street.
Authorities said the suspect, armed with what appeared to be a black pistol, entered the store, assaulted the clerk and demanded money before fleeing with about $710 in cash.
Perez-Cartagena faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault on an elderly individual, police said.
He was being held on a $250,000 cash-surety bond and was scheduled to appear Tuesday in Danielson Superior Court.
