WATERBURY — Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a pedestrian in August.
Nathan Medina of Waterbury was identified as the driver responsible for the crash, according to the Waterbury Police Department.
The accident occurred at 6:28 p.m. Aug. 18 in the area of 97 Cherry St.
Officers found a 22-year-old male pedestrian in the roadway with serious injuries.
He was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Investigators determined that the striking vehicle, a four-door beige or gold Chevy Cruze, fled the scene with damage to the front passenger-side fender.
A warrant was issued for Medina’s arrest following an investigation by the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Medina was taken into custody Feb. 23 by Connecticut State Police in connection with a separate incident.
However, the charges he faces are related to the Waterbury hit-and-run.
He has been charged with reckless driving, improper use of a marker plate, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license, evading responsibility resulting in serious injury, and illegal operation of a motor vehicle without insurance.
The victim has since been discharged from the hospital.
