BELMONT — Officers are investigating a shooting that took place Monday night on Clark Lane, according to the Belmont Police Department.
At approximately 9:12 p.m., the Belmont Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots and a person shot in the area.
When officers arrived, they found that both the suspected shooter and the victim had fled the scene.
Belmont police, with assistance from officers in Watertown, Waltham, and Arlington, conducted a search for the individuals involved.
Investigators later determined that the victim had transported themselves to Mount Auburn Hospital for treatment.
Police said the shooting was not a random act of violence and that there is no immediate threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
