FREETOWN — Two women were charged following a traffic stop in the town of Freetown, where authorities say one was found in possession of methamphetamine.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office said deputies pulled over a vehicle on McGraw Marathon Road at about 12:58 p.m. Feb. 21 and saw the driver and passenger switch seats as the stop was being conducted.
Samantha Conklin, 28, of Maricle Road, was identified as the initial driver.
Deputies determined she did not have a valid New York driver’s license and was in possession of methamphetamine, authorities said.
Conklin was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, as well as infractions for unlicensed operation, no distinct license plate and obstructed view.
She was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
The other occupant, Mariah Coughlin, 25, of Maricle Road, was charged with an infraction for permitting unlicensed operation, officials said.
Both Conklin and Coughlin are scheduled to appear in the Town of Freetown Court at 5 p.m. March 19.
