NEW HARTFORD — A Utica man was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after being located on a Centro bus following the release of his photo by police.
Brandon Diehl, 36, had five active arrest warrants issued by the Town of New Hartford Court related to five alleged larcenies committed over the past three months at TJ Maxx and Target in New Hartford, police said.
Last Tuesday, police posted Diehl’s photo and information to the New Hartford Police Department’s Facebook page as part of an effort to locate wanted individuals.
He was listed as one of the department’s most wanted for February.
Approximately one hour later, Sangertown Square Mall security staff alerted police that Diehl had been spotted at the mall and was last seen boarding a departing Centro bus, according to officials.
Officers stopped the bus on Seneca Turnpike and took Diehl into custody.
During processing, police determined that Diehl had been banned from the mall property in April 2024.
Officials also said that when he allegedly committed a larceny at Target in November, the ban was still in effect.
Diehl was charged with five counts of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor; third-degree burglary, a class D felony; and fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.
He was arraigned at the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or a $4,500 bail bond.
