CONCORD — A person experiencing a mental health crisis was injured outside a state office building Monday morning in what authorities determined was a self-inflicted stabbing, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Troopers responded at 8:45 a.m. to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of the Department of Environmental Services at 29 Hazen Drive.

Callers reported that a person was injured on the ground.

When officers arrived, they found the victim and determined there was no threat to the public or state office facilities, police said.

The victim, who is not a state employee, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

It was unclear why the person was on the premises.

The Concord Fire Department and the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
