BOSTON — Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested two suspects following a breaking and entering incident late Sunday night.
At about 10 p.m. on Feb. 23, officers responded to a report of a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 66 Dabney St.
Upon arrival, they observed two masked individuals standing in the side yard of 98 Dabney St., holding a black duffle bag.
As officers exited their cruiser to investigate, the suspects fled on foot.
One was apprehended near 14 Circuit St., and the other near 61 Walnut Ave.
During a canvass of the area, officers discovered a person suffering from a gunshot wound on a staircase adjacent to 98 Dabney St.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After speaking with the victim and conducting a protective sweep of the building, officers obtained Ring camera footage showing three individuals at the front door of the residence.
Footage captured one suspect kicking the door before all three entered.
Officers recovered a discarded Glock magazine capable of holding 30 rounds in front of 66 Dabney St.
It was determined that the two individuals detained had participated in the breaking and entering.
The third suspect, identified as the shooting victim, remains under police guard at the hospital.
Boston police arrested Daquan Flowers, 24, of Boston, and Don’Quell Mayes, 23, of Stoughton, charging them with breaking and entering nighttime for a felony.
Mayes was found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine and faces additional charges of possession of Class A and Class B substances.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
