Two juveniles arrested after unarmed robbery in downtown Boston

BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested two juveniles following an unarmed robbery and assault on Thursday, Feb. 20.

At about 3:02 p.m., officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to the area of 450 Washington Street for a report of an assault and battery in progress.

Macy’s loss prevention staff reported that a group of five juveniles assaulted a victim inside the store.

The victim was punched and kicked multiple times, according to officials.

The group fled toward the MBTA Red Line train station after the incident.

Officers observed one juvenile matching the description provided by witnesses and attempted to speak with him.

The suspect initially refused to stop but was quickly apprehended.

He declined to identify himself and was placed in handcuffs.

The victim told officers he was using the restroom when the group entered and began harassing him.

The juveniles followed him around the store, videotaped him, and stole his bag before assaulting him.

The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.

Officers reviewed security footage and disseminated photos of the suspects.

During a canvass of the area, two juvenile males matching the descriptions were located.

One juvenile was compliant with officers, while the other became combative and refused to answer questions.

The combative suspect spat on an officer after being placed in handcuffs.

A 14-year-old male was charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.

A 16-year-old male was charged with unarmed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of assault and battery.

Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
