NEW YORK — State troopers arrested a Queens man early Feb. 21 after he was found driving the wrong way while intoxicated on the Wantagh State Parkway near Jones Beach State Park, police said.
Troopers responded at approximately 12:03 a.m. to reports of a vehicle traveling north in the southbound lanes.
Officers located and stopped the vehicle, a black Toyota RAV4, in the southbound lanes near Exit W4E, the Southern State Parkway exit.
The driver, Karon Deopersaud, 47, of Queens, was found to have a blood alcohol content of .19%, more than twice the legal limit, police said.
Deopersaud was charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation, and two counts of felony driving while intoxicated, along with multiple traffic violations.
He is scheduled to appear in Nassau County District Court on March 12 at 9 a.m.
