Boston shoplifting investigation leads to arrest of three serial shoplifters

BOSTON — At about 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested Andrea Bono, 48, of Boston, and Daniel Mullaney, 54, of Revere, for shoplifting and multiple warrants.

Officers were conducting a walk and talk in the area of 760 Boylston Street to address ongoing thefts.

Officers observed a suspect walk past the point of sale inside the Dick’s Sporting Goods store, causing the alarm to go off.

Officers immediately identified themselves as Boston Police officers and stopped the suspect.

Officers were able to recover and return approximately $418 worth of merchandise.

While speaking with officers, the suspect provided them with several false names.

After further investigation, officers determined the suspect’s real identity and that she had nine warrants for her arrest on various counts of shoplifting, larceny, and drug possession.

At the same time, officers were able to stop a second suspect who was seen stealing a duffle bag.

The male suspect also provided officers with false identification and was ultimately placed into handcuffs.

The suspect then advised officers of his real name, and officers learned that he had four warrants for his arrest for three counts of shoplifting, two counts of larceny, and drug possession.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and additionally charged with shoplifting under $1,200.

Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

Later that afternoon at approximately 5:59 p.m., officers responded to the area of 497 Boylston Street for a report of a shoplifter in custody.

Officers were advised by store security that the suspect had attempted to steal approximately $230 in merchandise.

The suspect, later identified as Carolina Andrade, 34, of Boston, became combative with security and attempted to throw a shoe at them.

Officers took custody of the suspect and transported her to District D-4.

The suspect refused to be booked and spit in the face of an officer.

Andrade was charged with shoplifting by asportation, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, and assault and battery to intimidate.

Officers determined that the suspect had a warrant for her arrest for harassment of electronic communications.

She is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
