SPRINGFIELD — Officers arrested a Springfield man on a heroin possession charge following a traffic stop on Feb. 12.

Springfield police were patrolling the area of Spring Street near a known drug residence when they observed a vehicle leaving the location.

The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of High Street and Park Street, prompting officers to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Brad Chase, 42, of Springfield, consented to a search of his person and vehicle.

Officers allegedly found suspected heroin and fentanyl during the search.

Chase was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing.
