RED HOOK — A Red Hook man was arrested Wednesday evening following an altercation at a local restaurant that involved a knife.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Cancun’s Mexican Restaurant on South Broadway in the Village of Red Hook.
Witnesses told officers that a man entered the restaurant and engaged in a verbal argument with a female employee.
The confrontation escalated when the man allegedly displayed a knife and threatened the employee.
Both individuals left the restaurant on foot while still arguing, according to police.
Officers located the pair on East Market Street in the Village.
Following an investigation, Justino Romero, 55, of Red Hook, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, and harassment, all misdemeanors.
Romero was processed and arraigned in Village Court.
Under New York State bail reform laws, he was released on his own recognizance and given a future court date.
