One-vehicle rollover in New Hartford leads to DWI arrest

NEW HARTFORD — A one-vehicle rollover accident on Route 840 resulted in a driving while intoxicated arrest Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m., the New Hartford Police and Fire Departments responded to Route 840 near the Route 12 southbound off-ramp for a reported crash.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck on its side.

The driver, identified as Donald King, 34, of Herkimer, required assistance from emergency personnel to be extricated from the vehicle.

Police conducted field sobriety tests at the scene and arrested King for driving while intoxicated.

No injuries were reported.

King was transported to the New Hartford Police Department, where he was processed and released on uniform traffic tickets.

He faces charges including speeding, failure to maintain a lane, and two counts of driving while intoxicated.

Lanes on Route 840 were temporarily closed but have since reopened.
