HILLSBORO — A Hillsboro police detective was injured Wednesday morning when his cruiser was struck by a plow truck on Greenfield Drive in Emerald Lake.

The incident occurred at 11:31 a.m. on Feb. 19.

The detective was responding to a call when the plow truck, operated by a private company, stopped due to vehicles in the roadway.

The truck then accelerated in reverse, colliding with the detective’s stopped cruiser.

The impact deployed the cruiser’s airbags and pushed the vehicle backward approximately 10 feet.

The detective sustained a broken arm in five locations and was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

The plow truck operator was uninjured.

Preliminary assessments suggest the cruiser will be deemed irreparable due to the extent of the damage.

The Antrim Police Department will oversee the investigation into the accident.
