CAMPTON — On Feb. 19 at approximately 4:38 a.m., Campton Police responded to a residence on Winterbrook Road for a report of a suspicious person.
The caller reported observing an unknown male arriving in a Ford F350 pickup truck and rummaging through vehicles in the driveway.
Upon arrival, officers located Brian McCloskey, 50, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, who began walking away from the truck.
Police immediately noticed a small fire inside the truck’s interior, which quickly engulfed the vehicle in flames.
During the investigation, authorities determined the truck had been reported stolen from Fitchburg on Feb. 17.
McCloskey was arrested and charged with arson, a class B felony; theft by unauthorized taking, a class A felony; falsifying physical evidence, a class B felony; criminal mischief, a class A felony; reckless conduct, a class B felony; and criminal trespassing, a violation.
Following his arrest, McCloskey was held without bail on preventative detention pending arraignment in Plymouth Court.
