ELMIRA — The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Jaquan N. Boykin, 23, of Southport, as a fugitive from justice in connection with a drug charge in Georgia.
Boykin was taken into custody following a traffic stop conducted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Road Patrol on Feb. 15 for vehicle and traffic violations.
Authorities determined that Boykin had an active Superior Court warrant issued by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia for possession of methamphetamine under Georgia law.
The Criminal Investigations Division received the warrant from Gwinnett County, which requested Boykin be held pending extradition.
Boykin was arraigned in the Town of Ashland Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail while awaiting extradition to Georgia.
