HOOKSETT — Former Hooksett police officer Schleiden Meneide was arrested Saturday morning on theft and other charges after an incident at a Target store, according to the Hooksett Police Department.

At around 7:30 a.m., a Target employee contacted police, reporting a man dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask inside the store.

The employee believed the man had been involved in previous thefts.

When officers arrived, the man ran from the store toward a vehicle in the back lot, police said.

He was detained and identified as Meneide, 36, of Manchester, New Hampshire.

An on-scene investigation led to the discovery of Target merchandise and a device used to remove security materials in Meneide’s pockets, police said.

He was then arrested and charged with three class A misdemeanor counts: theft, willful concealment, and possession of theft detection devices.

Meneide was taken to the Hooksett Police Department, where he was processed and released on personal recognizance bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 27 at 8:15 a.m. at the 6th Circuit Court in Hooksett.

Police said the previous thefts remain under investigation and additional charges may follow.

Meneide was a member of the Hooksett Police Department from August 2019 until his resignation in May 2023.

Police said his resignation was part of a negotiated agreement with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office following a criminal investigation into his alleged misuse of the State Police Online Telecommunications System.

Under that agreement, Meneide avoided criminal charges by surrendering his law enforcement certification, agreeing to be placed on the national registry of decertified officers, and pledging not to seek future employment as a law enforcement officer, police said.

He also agreed not to contest his placement on the New Hampshire Exculpatory Evidence Schedule.
