Greenville County man arrested after attack in Durham

DURHAM — Troopers responded to a physical altercation on Stonitch Road in the town of Durham at approximately 12 p.m. on Feb. 14.

The investigation revealed that Jason Legg, 38, of Windham, had a verbal altercation over the phone with a 53-year-old male victim the day prior.

On Feb. 14, Legg arrived at the victim’s residence in an irate state, leading to another verbal altercation.

The situation escalated when Legg used the victim’s crutch to strike him multiple times, causing minor injuries.

Legg also prevented another victim from contacting authorities during the altercation.

He was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the incident.

During his arrest, over 10 grams of Clonazepam were found on his person.

Legg was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal mischief for reckless property damage greater than $250, criminal mischief for disabling equipment to prevent an emergency call, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and harassment in the second degree.

He was arraigned at the town of Durham court and transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Albany.
