ELMIRA — Elmira police officers responded to a larceny complaint on Lincoln Street around 12:58 a.m. on Feb. 18 and were led to a suspect at a location on West 3rd Street.
When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect, who was not compliant.
A physical altercation ensued, resulting in injuries to one Elmira police officer.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody.
At approximately 4 a.m., an Elmira police officer was conducting routine business checks and found a subject sleeping inside the Strathmont Plaza lobby.
When the officer attempted to engage the subject, the individual was noncompliant, leading to another physical altercation.
The officer sustained injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Both officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Arnot Hospital and later released.
As a result of the investigations, Eric Knox, 61, of Elmira, was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a Class D felony.
Michael Walker, 57, of Elmira, was also charged with one count of second-degree assault, a Class D felony.
