Driver arrested on DUI, child cruelty charges in Montpelier

MONTPELIER — Troopers from the Berlin Barracks conducted a routine traffic stop at approximately 9:39 a.m. Feb. 18 on Interstate 89 northbound near mile marker 55.8.

The driver was identified as David Banach, 45, of Woodbridge, Connecticut.

While speaking with troopers, Banach displayed signs of impairment.

Authorities also determined that a juvenile was in the vehicle Banach was operating.

Banach was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence and was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

He was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court to answer to the charges of DUI drug and cruelty to a child.
