DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department charged a Lowell man with trafficking cocaine and other offenses following a proactive traffic stop.
Anthony Dixon, 45, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with:
– Trafficking cocaine (over 36 grams)
– Operating with a suspended license (subsequent offense)
– Speeding
– Distribution of a Class B substance
– Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
On Monday, Feb. 17, at approximately 11 p.m., Officer Andrew Gys stopped a vehicle for speeding near 26 Pleasant St.
An investigation determined that the driver, identified as Dixon, was operating with a suspended license.
Dixon was taken into custody, and officers found a small bag of crack cocaine on him during a search.
An inventory search of Dixon’s vehicle uncovered approximately 58 grams of crack cocaine, 37 grams of marijuana packaged in multiple baggies, and $582 in cash.
Dixon was booked at the Dracut Police Station and arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court, where he was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.
Dixon is scheduled to appear in Lowell District Court on March 11.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
