4 arrested in single traffic stop during proactive drug interdiction in Westbrook

WESTBROOK — A routine traffic stop last Wednesday evening led to the arrest of four individuals, including a fugitive from Florida, the Westbrook Police Department reported.

The incident began when an officer conducting proactive drug interdiction stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

During the stop, officers discovered a 33-year-old female from Florida hiding under a blanket in the trunk of the SUV. She was wanted in Florida on an extraditable warrant and was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice. She is currently awaiting extradition.

The driver, a 40-year-old male from Old Town, was arrested for possession of heroin. Officers found the drugs hidden between the seats during a thorough search of the vehicle.

A 41-year-old male from Portland was also arrested during the stop. He faces charges of unlawful possession of fentanyl, trafficking in prison contraband, violation of conditions of release, and three outstanding arrest warrants.

At the time of his arrest, he was out on five different sets of bail conditions. He initially refused to identify himself, but officers found his ID in his wallet.

Additionally, a 40-year-old female from Portland was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The Westbrook Police Department highlighted the rarity of four arrests stemming from a single traffic stop.
