Worcester police recover cocaine, fentanyl in drug bust

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department Vice Squad officers recovered cocaine and fentanyl during a drug bust on Feb. 14.

Officers were conducting surveillance in the area of Park Ave. when they observed a man, identified as 55-year-old Richard Pileggi, hiding behind a dumpster and pacing back and forth.

Police said Pileggi met with the operator of an Acura and conducted a hand-to-hand transaction.

Officers recovered what appeared to be cocaine from Pileggi, who also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Other officers stopped the Acura and arrested its operator, 47-year-old Gary Tyndale of Vineyard St.

Following the arrests, officers obtained a search warrant for the Vineyard St address.

At about 3:30 p.m., they entered the residence and located a large amount of what appeared to be cocaine, a large amount of what appeared to be fentanyl, and packaging materials.

Gary Tyndale and fellow resident Andre Tyndale were arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin 37-99 grams, trafficking in cocaine, and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute.

Andre Tyndale also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
