Traffic stop in Bath leads to drug-related arrests

BATH — On Feb. 16 at approximately 10:39 p.m., New York State Police in Bath initiated a traffic stop for traffic violations on East William Street.

The Bath Police Department arrived on the scene to assist.

The driver was identified as Joseph L. Burleson, 60, of Savona.

Two passengers were also present in the vehicle.

The front passenger was identified as Robert E. Wright, 42, of Campbell, and the rear passenger was identified as Terry L. Bulkley, 44, of Bath.

While exiting the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was observed on the floorboard.

Additional drugs were found in the vehicle and on Wright’s person.

A subsequent search resulted in the recovery of 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine crystal, methamphetamine residue, Suboxone tablets without a prescription, digital scales, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Wright was taken into custody, and Bulkley was found to have an active warrant from the Corning Police Department.

Robert E. Wright was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Terry L. Bulkley was taken into custody on an active warrant and transferred to Bath PD.

Both individuals were transported to SP Bath for processing before being taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court on Feb. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
