PORTLAND — The Portland Police Department has issued a warning about scammers targeting residents by posing as employees of Central Maine Power or bail bondsmen.

Authorities said they have received multiple reports of individuals going door-to-door attempting to collect money from citizens.

Police emphasized that neither CMP nor bail bondsmen would engage in such practices.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious visits or calls to the department’s non-emergency line.
