WATERBURY — On the evening of Feb. 13, officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force were conducting an investigation into attempted carjackings at various locations throughout the city.
During the investigation, officers encountered suspects in the West End of Waterbury.
While engaging with the suspects, an ATTF officer was struck by gunfire in the leg.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three suspects have been taken into custody and placed under arrest.
The Waterbury Police Department is working in coordination with the Waterbury State’s Attorney’s Office and the Connecticut Office of the Inspector General to investigate this incident.
