SHEFFIELD — A 33-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges, including possession of narcotics and resisting arrest, following an incident on Feb. 13.
At approximately 12:17 p.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks observed a man walking along VT-122 in Sheffield.
The man was identified as Joshua Chase of Concord, the same individual troopers had attempted to stop on Feb. 6 for a motor vehicle violation.
During the encounter, Chase provided a false identity and attempted to flee on foot.
Troopers apprehended him shortly after and took him into custody without further incident.
A search of Chase revealed narcotics on his person.
He was transported to the Vermont State Police – St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing, where it was determined he was in violation of his parole.
The Department of Corrections ordered Chase held without bail due to the parole violation.
While in custody, additional narcotics were discovered during a search at the correctional facility.
Chase was cited to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on March 24 at 8:30 a.m.
He faces charges including possession of narcotics, resisting arrest, providing false information to a police officer, eluding a police officer, and transportation of regulated drugs into places of detention.
