WATERBURY — Investigators have identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a shots-fired incident that occurred on Jan. 31.
Zerquia Collymore, 18, was apprehended on Feb. 11 by multiple law enforcement units, including the Waterbury Police Department’s Vice and Intelligence Unit, Auto Theft Task Force, Gang Task Force, Crime Prevention Unit, and the State Police Violent Crimes Task Force.
Collymore was taken into custody without incident, and the vehicle used in the crime was also recovered.
He faces charges including reckless endangerment in the first degree, conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree (three counts), criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree (three counts), and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
Collymore is being held on a $750,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Feb. 13.
The incident occurred on Jan. 31 at approximately 1:37 p.m. in the area of Congress Avenue and Washington Avenue.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found a 17-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Evidence of shots fired was recovered at the scene.
Authorities believe the incident was isolated and say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
