MARLBOROUGH — In January, Marlborough detectives received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding images and videos of suspected child pornography uploaded to Google from a Marlborough residence.
Subpoenas were filed through the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, leading investigators to identify 37-year-old Michael L. Ryan as a prime suspect.
On Feb. 6, detectives spoke with Ryan outside his residence, seized his cellular device, and obtained a search warrant to examine its contents.
A forensic search of the device revealed over 500 videos and images depicting young children, who appeared to be under the age of 18, in lewd states of nudity or engaged in sexual acts.
Detectives applied for an arrest warrant, and Ryan was taken into custody on Feb. 12.
He faces charges of possession of child pornography.
