Lewiston man arrested in undercover child sex sting

LEWISTON — A 48-year-old Lewiston man, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested on Feb. 11 after he allegedly attempted to meet a minor for a sexual relationship, according to the Lewiston Police Department.

Luke Johnson was taken into custody without incident by investigators when he arrived at a local establishment, believing he was meeting the minor child.

However, Johnson had actually been communicating with an undercover officer during the investigation.

Johnson is currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on charges of Attempted Gross Sexual Assault, Class B; Solicitation of a Child, Class D; and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Class B.

His bail was set at $15,000.

The Lewiston Police Department partnered with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for this case and received assistance from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department and Auburn Police Department.
